How does the tree planting work?
Each month, trees are planted on your behalf through verified reforestation partners including Ecologi and Digital Humani. You receive confirmation and can track your impact on your dashboard.
Where are the trees actually planted?
Trees are planted through verified reforestation partners on real projects worldwide, including agroforestry in Kenya, mangrove restoration in Madagascar, and forest restoration in the Americas. Your dashboard records the partner, the project, and the date for every batch. ForestMatters does not plant trees directly; we fund planting through these partners and surface the records to you.
Who verifies the trees are real?
The reforestation partners (Ecologi, Digital Humani) operate the projects and verify planting. Each transaction is logged with a provider reference ID you can cross-check against the partner's public reporting. We also run an automated daily job that compares partner-reported tree counts against our internal records and alerts us to any significant discrepancy.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel through your billing portal at any time. Monthly plans end at the next billing date. Annual plans remain active through the end of the paid year, and trees continue to be planted monthly until the period ends. No partial refunds on annual plans.
What's your refund policy?
Monthly subscriptions: cancel anytime; you keep access through the end of the paid month, then no further charges. Annual subscriptions: no partial refunds once the year has begun, but trees continue planting monthly through the paid period. If a tree planting fails on our end (provider outage, etc.), we automatically retry until it succeeds — failed plantings still get planted, you don't lose them. For billing errors, contact hello@forestmatters.com — we resolve them case-by-case.
What happens if I cancel mid-year on annual?
Your subscription stays active until the end of the paid period. Trees continue to be planted monthly through that end date, your badge keeps working, and your directory listing (Grove and Forest tiers) stays up. After the period ends, the subscription does not renew. We do not pro-rate refunds on annual plans, so cancelling early does not unlock cash back; it just stops the next renewal.
What is the partner badge?
A "We Plant Trees with ForestMatters" badge you can add to your website, email signature, or storefront. We provide the code and image files in light and dark variants. The badge stays valid as long as your subscription is active.
What if a payment fails?
Stripe retries failed payments automatically over a few days. During that window your subscription is marked past_due and trees still plant on the next successful charge. If retries fail entirely, the subscription cancels and your badge / directory listing are paused until you resubscribe.
Is my data private? Can I delete my account?
Yes to both. We honor GDPR and CCPA: from your dashboard you can request deletion at any time, which schedules a 30-day soft-delete (in case you change your mind) and then permanently anonymizes your data. We never sell your data and never share it with third parties beyond the planting providers needed to fulfill your subscription. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
Do you offer custom plans?
For businesses planting more than 50 trees per month, contact us at hello@forestmatters.com for custom pricing.
Is there a setup fee?
No. Just the monthly or annual subscription. Cancel anytime.
Do you offer annual billing?
Yes. Annual plans save 17% compared to monthly billing (2 months free). You pay once per year and trees are planted monthly throughout the year, same as monthly subscribers. Choose your billing interval at checkout.
